NWV Family of Parishes would like to welcome Father Andrew Reckers, who will be taking the place of Father Stephen Jones as Parochial Vicar starting in July 2025. We wish Fr. Jones all the best and are praying for him as he starts his new assignment in Cincinnati at Eastside Catholic. Please keep an eye out in the bulletin and our blog for a message from Fr. Jones.
Fr. Reckers was born on January 30th, 1986, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to his mother, Mary Helen, and father, Michael. He was baptized at St. Teresa of Avila Parish in Covedale, a suburb of Cincinnati. He has two younger brothers, James and Matthew, and a younger sister, Holly. He attended Catholic grade school at St. Teresa for kindergarten and first grade, and the remainder at Our Lady of the Visitation grade school. He graduated in 2004 from Elder High School, a Catholic high school in Price Hill, Cincinnati. In 2009, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Engineering. Before entering Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Cincinnati in 2013, he pursued some graduate studies at UC, and then he worked for his father for a few years in an embroidery shop in Blue Ash within the greater Cincinnati area. He was ordained a priest on May 16th, 2020. His first assignment, from 2020 to 2022, was as Parochial Vicar to three parishes in Mercer County, OH: Holy Trinity in Coldwater, St. Mary in Philothea, and St. Anthony in Padua. His second assignment, from 2022 to 2025, was as Parochial Vicar to the St. Joseph, Pillar of Families Parishes in Shelby County, OH: Holy Angels in Sidney, Sacred Heart in McCartyville, St. Michael in Ft. Loramie, and Sts. Peter and Paul in Newport. He now looks forward to meeting everyone in the NWV Family of Parishes as he begins his third assignment as Parochial Vicar.
Some of Fr. Reckers’ hobbies include watching and identifying birds, visiting parks, playing card or board games in family settings, and learning about the mysteries of the universe. In general, he enjoys anything that lends itself to quiet contemplation. He always appreciates meeting families and discussing anything from speculative theology and philosophy to the ordinary things of daily life.
